Jay Kalen, Operations Director
Jay Kalen was born and raised on the beautiful island of Saipan and moved to Hawaiʻi in June 2019. Before joining Chick-fil-A, Jay gained extensive customer service experience working as a waiter, busser, and cashier at local shops and superstores in Saipan.
Jay started at Chick-fil-A Ala Moana in December 2022 and has grown rapidly through the ranks—from team member to trainer, to lead, and now serving as the Store Executive Director. He loves the supportive environment, saying, “Management and staff make Chick-fil-A a great place to be. When management cares for you the way Chick-fil-A Ala Moana does, it makes it a blessing to work here.” His go-to meal is a grilled wrap with creamy salsa dressing, medium fries, and a ketchup-mayo mix.
Growing up, Jay played baseball and slow-pitch softball and had the honor of representing the CNMI baseball team internationally in the Philippines and Taipei. With parents who run a local BBQ restaurant in Saipan, he grew up comfortable in the kitchen, making his work in Chick-fil-A’s BOH a natural fit. Outside of work, Jay enjoys video games, board games, card games, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Through his time at Chick-fil-A, PJ has developed a deep appreciation for teamwork and continuous improvement. He values the culture Chick-fil-A creates, saying the team has given him a new community and taught him the power of a genuine smile—both for guests and for each other.
Outside of work, PJ serves at his church as a worship leader and youth leader. He also enjoys hiking and taking in Hawaiʻi’s sunrise and sunset views.

He thrives on creating a positive, organized, and efficient work environment, always leading by example.
